Recently I was struggling with something that has been natural for me over the past twenty years. I have hardly been able to run. For some unexplained reason I had gone from a V8 motor to a second hand lawn mower. To run up a hill was almost impossible for me to do. My heart rate would go through the roof.
After a week of rest and a few light runs I feel almost like my old self, still not 100% though. It has helped reinforce in my own mind something that I have always preached. This being that at the end of the day rest is often the major contributor in overcoming fatigue, illness or injury.
TRAIN SMARTER, NOT HARDER
