I often sound like a stuck record when it comes to preaching the importance that dedication and commitment play in achieving your goals in distance running. With some people though, it can work against you and I was one of the guilty ones. I can recall a time that I had an achilles tendon injury whilst I was based at the Australian Institute of Sport. While I was receiving treatment from the physio there was also another runner being treated for the same injury at the same time. We were both told to rest, no running until given the ok. Much to my demise I did not adhere to the physios advice and would still venture out for a run in the evenings. Whilst sneaking in one of my runs I noticed the physio driving down the road towards me and I hid behind a tree. What a dill I was, as the injury was not getting any better, worse if anything.
